Dishwasher Rinse Aid |
Once again, something I have to make myself because I can NOT isolate the allergens in the pre made stuff. I can source my individual ingredients to be allergen free AND I don't have to worry about killing my kids, literally.
Ingredients: 4 c flour 1 tsp cream of tarter 1 c salt 4 Tbl oil water Directions: 1. Mix first 4 items together in a giant bowl. 2. Add water until it is the right consistency. 3. Knead on the counter with additional flour for approx 5 minutes to set. Option: Others have added food coloring to the finished dough. Foaming Hand SoapI love those pretty smelling smelling hand soaps as much as the next girl, but $7 a bottle was a little rich for my taste. My recipe won't have as heavy a scent as the store bought ones, but those with asthma will thank you for it.
Note: The liquid soap that works best is the translucent kind. Don't use the white, creamy kind. It won't mix correctly. Ingredients: one foaming hand soap pump water 2 to 3 T liquid hand soap Directions: 1. Add the water to the soap dispenser first, leaving a space at the top. 2. Add 2 T of hand soap. 3. Shake to mix. Test the consistency of the foam. Add the additional T of soap if needed. |
I got tired of paying $4 a bottle for dishwasher rinse aid, so I came up with my own for just pennies! This works great and I have been using it for almost 2 years.
Ingredients: a clean bottle 1/2 c vinegar 1/2 c hydrogen peroxide Directions: 1. Label your bottle. 2. Combine liquids. 3. Use in your dishwasher as you normally would. Disclaimer: Use at your own risk. I am not responsible or liable in any way for any damages. Fruit and Veggie Wash SprayI got tired of spending so much money just to clean our food. I did some research, and like I said, it's gotta be easy to make. I have made some recipes once that did work really well, but the complexity of 5 and 6 ingredients kept me from remaking them after the first batch.
Ingredients: 1/4 c white vinegar 1 c water 3 drops (MAX!) of original blue Dawn Directions: 1. In an old spray bottle, pour the vinegar and water in. 2. Shake. 3. Add a drop of original blue Dawn dish soap. Accept no substitutes. Don't add more than 3 drops. 4. Spray your produce, let sit a minute or two, rub, rinse, and enjoy. Lemonade Body ScrubWe live where the sun is relentless and the winters are dry, so our skin takes a beating. I got tired of shelling out for stuff we, literally, just rinsed down the drain each week. This is tough enough for Captain Stud's normal grime and has a clean non girly smell and also gentle enough for the kids. Win Win!
Ingredients: 1/2 c sugar 1/4 c olive oil or coconut oil 2 T lemon juice Directions: 1. In a clean container, combine the ingredients. 2. Adjust amounts to your liking. We like ours pretty dry. 3. Use about once a week to exfoliate dry skin. 4. We've never had this amount last more than about 2 weeks. If you are keeping it longer than that, please refrigerate your unused portion. Caution: The oil can make your tub or shower very slippery, so please be careful. |
