I'm a mess, but God's handled bigger messes than this before.
FAMILY
We are a family of five, and I use nicknames for all of us. My amazing best friend and husband is Captain Stud. He is literally a Swiss Army knife in human form. He can do anything! I am Diana. My oldest girl is now 14 and is referred to as "Big". She is in public high school. Our 7 year old girl is Boo or Sissy. She started in public kindergarten and first grade, but this year we have decided to home school. Our son is "The Boy" or Bubba and he is 4. He really is ALL BOY ALL THE TIME! Collectively, Sissy and Bubba are called "The Littles", a name given to them by Big-which also kinda explains why she picked her nickname. LOVE IT, LEAVE IT
“Love It, Leave It” posts review items, recipes, and ideas that I purchase, make, and create with my own money. We use them in real family life situations. I subject my family to them, got their honest opinions and write about it for your amusement...no, wait....money saving tips and tricks. Yeah, that's better. I try to limit my reviews to around 500 words or one page. I get in, tell you my impressions, and get out. I either recommend it and you might see a link to purchase it at a good price. If I don't recommend it, you can't buy it from me. Period. ME
Hi, my name is Diana and I am NOT in control. (Now you reply: Hi Diana.) Third In Command is a role that I am learning to adjust to. I am perfectionist, type A, micromanaging control freak, so letting go and trusting is a struggle for me. This has a tendency to burn me out quickly. My struggle is reflected in my parenting, in my marriage, and in my faith. |
FAITH
The first picture you saw (cross with hands) sums up who we are so well. I love it. Captain Stud is the head of our house, but honestly, he is only second in command. We willingly serve an amazing Commander-In-Chief. I am only third in command, hence the name. We live our lives following 10 simple commandments. 5 of them determine how we relate to our loving God, the other 5 apply to how we relate to each other. That's it, just 10. Whatever we are considering doing has to fall within those guideline parameters, or it DOES NOT happen. Period. My faith is still new and believe me, faith doesn't make things any easier. In all honesty, there are times it makes life harder. Suddenly, there are higher standards. But The One I have faith in makes things possible. ME AND NORMAN
I, like most people, enjoy my shower. Some people sing in the shower. One artist I know gets his amazing ideas in the shower. I think in the shower. I think really deep thoughts and I seem to process Mysteries of Faith better. I WANT to talk to myself in there, however, I also don’t WANT to seem crazy either. So I talk to Norman. (Because that’s only slightly less crazy.) Norman is a Mediterranean House Gecko. He has lived here, since we moved in. In reality, we are probably on Norman the VIII, but hey, who’s counting? I crack open the bathroom window to help with humidity and he hangs out on the glass and eats bugs. Sometimes Norman ends up on the inside of the glass and watches me take my shower. Those are the days I know we are going to have an amazing conversation. (My “New Blog” contest: the first person to contact me and tell me where I got Norman’s name from wins a $5 Starbucks gift card. Thanks for actually reading!) |
